A Fork in the Apple

..about three things I am absolutely positive:

Twilight is a love story.

Adam and Eve are a love story

Both of the above teach our girls valuable life lessons

We all know the disadvantages of being Edward: he’s a vampire and that makes him an unsuitable hero. However, when looking carefully, we can look at Edward as an unlikely hero that gives our girls a clear picture of that future Prince Charming.

Teaching From the Grand Meta-Narrative

Our theology, identity, and beliefs are all shaped ultimately by one story. That story would be God’s Story, and when we allow it to happen, we are driven and motivated to take action by the words in that story. Not only do we begin to see what we believe about God, but we also are enabled to make decisions about ourselves and our world.

Discipleship Taught In Red

Our challenge, as Christians, is to wake up, look in the mirror, and search for a “little Christ.” Our calling is what places us into a world that is in need of compassion – lived out only through the study and understanding of the “Red Letters” of Jesus’ teaching.

Feelings Aren’t Manly

We have all grown up hearing that “real men don’t cry,” and maybe you have even said it a time or two yourself, but this is the root of our problem. We don’t keep close friends, at least numerous ones. Being open and honest is something we struggle with doing with ourselves, not to mention with others, or even God.

Letting the Bible Speak for Us

Sometimes, in order to hear God and give God the focus that he deserves from us, a special time and place is needed. You may hear God actually speak to you in this time, but that is not the case for everyone.

Vision, Mission and Permission

Nehemiah, a man with a call to build a wall. Nehemiah provides a clear map for us to follow to see that [a] the calling is from God, and [b] how to see it come to fruition. This call to build a wall will help us understand what it takes to join God in his ongoing mission.

Joy, It’s Out There.

We can all use a little joy in our life, but often times we are just so worried about what comes next on our schedules that we forget to take the time and actually search for what brings us joy. Paul, in Philippians, saves us the trouble by giving us a clear understanding of what stands in our way of experiencing the joy God intends for us.
